Die Casting Aluminum Process
The die casting aluminum process involves the injection of molten aluminum into molds or casts by using very high pressure. Four essential steps are undertaken in aluminum die casting, first of which is spraying the mold with lubricant and closing the die casting machine. The lubricant is used not only to facilitate casting removal but also to contribute in controlling the temperature of the die casting mold during the die casting process.
Next, high pressure is used to inject or shoot the molten aluminum into the mold. The pressure is maintained once the die is completely filled and the casting has solidified. After the aluminum casting has cooled enough, the dies are then opened and ejector pins remove the shots inside. Scraps are separated from the castings, oftentimes through a special trimming device in a hydraulic press or power press. Secondary operations may be necessary in some aluminum die casting that could entail plating, painting or buffing or tapping a hole in the cast parts.
The high-pressure injection is the most critical step in Aluminum die casting process. The entire cavity of the die cast or mold has to be completely filled with the molten aluminum before any of the casting’s part solidifies. If the injection or shot is swift enough, there won’t be casting discontinuities even in thin, difficult-to-fill sections of the die cast.

Aluminum Heat Sink Manufacturing
Aluminum (or aluminium) is the preferred metal used to produce heat sinks because of aluminum’s thermal conductive properties, the weight of the many aluminum alloys and, the natural electrical conductivity of aluminum.
EXTRUSIONS AS ALUMINUM HEAT SINKS:
Initially, heat sinks were produced as extrusions. The extrusion process is to heat aluminum to a point just before melting temperature and then “squeeze” or extrude the aluminum through a form creating long aluminum sections that will need to be cut into the proper part lengths. Then the part is machined for mounting holes and other features. There is wasted aluminum because the material cut away cannot be used in the extrusion process again. Also, many times the lengths have left over amounts that are too short to be used to make parts.
DIE CASTINGS AS ALUMINUM HEAT SINKS:
In the die casting process, we inject aluminum into a die forming the heat sink. As a die casting part, the mounting holes and special features can be die cast into a “net shape” part. There is not wasted aluminum in the die casting process because the excess aluminum is remelted and used to form additional parts. Also in the die casting process, there are no “left over” sections.
ADVANTAGES OF DIE CASTING HEAT SINKS:
1. Machining holes and features is not necessary saving money in the production process.
2. Time is saved in manufacturing because machining is not necessary.
3. No wasted aluminum.

Fall Equinox 2018
The first day of Autumn is today also known as the first day of FALL. Today, the autumnal equinox, day and night are each about 12 hours long (with the actual time of equal day and night, in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring a few days after the autumnal equinox). The word equinox means “equal night”; night and day are about the same length of time. This time of year is known for color change of the leaves on trees, cooler nights, and harvest.

Kinetic Aluminum Handles
Kinetic Die Casting Makes Aluminum Handle Hardware. Handle hardware refers to door and cabinet handles, which need to be able to withstand constant pushes and pulls. When it comes to handle hardware, aluminum is one of the best materials to use when manufacturing handles. Aluminum is strong, durable, and sturdy, and is perfect for ensuring that handle hardware will last despite long-term abuse. Additionally, aluminum is lightweight and cheap, so buying and installing aluminum handle hardware does not burn a hole in customers’ pockets.
Die Casting Aluminum Alloys
Die casting is the best and most reliable method to quickly produce aluminum handle hardware in large quantities. The method involves creating a cast or a mold first to resemble the shape of the handle to be produced. Afterwards, the aluminum is subjected to intense heat so that it becomes liquid. The liquefied metal is then injected into the cast or mold for the aluminum to take the mold’s shape. The mold with the aluminum is then cooled to let the liquid metal set and harden into the new shape. When the aluminum has hardened, the mold is then opened to reveal new aluminum handles. In North Hollywood, California, there is a company called the Kinetic Die Casting Company that specializes in various die-cast parts and products, such as automotive parts, enclosures and housings, aluminum lighting fixtures, and aluminum handle hardware. The company’s website not only showcases its products but also has pages that explain what aluminum handle hardware parts are, what the advantages are of using aluminum for handles, and how to choose the right handle hardware.
