Presidents Day 2019
The third Monday in February is Presidents’ Day. Washington’s Birthday was a United States federal holiday.
This holiday, celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, our first President of the United States. Now, this day is known as Presidents Day, and is often an occasion to remember all the U.S. presidents, not just George Washington’s actual birthday, February 22 or Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is February 12th. The term “Presidents’ Day” used to change the holiday into a day honoring multiple American presidents.
Recently, the February holiday is a day in which many retail stores, especially furniture stores and car dealerships, hold discount sales. Until the late 1980s, banks and corporate businesses closed on this day, similar to present corporate and bank practices on Memorial Day or Christmas Day. With the late 1980s advertising push to rename the holiday, more retail businesses are staying open during the holiday each year, and, as on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Veterans Day and Columbus Day. Many colleges and universities hold regular classes and operations on Presidents’ Day. Most U.S. Postal Service delivery services offer regular service on the day.

Happy Valentines Day from KDC
Thursday, February 14, 2019 is celebrated as Valentine’s Day. This friendly holiday is celebrated annually on February 14. It is a festival of romantic love and some people give Valentines Day cards, Love Letters, flowers or presents to their spouse or partner. They may also arrange a romantic meal in a restaurant or night in a hotel. Common symbols of Valentine’s Day are red hearts, red roses and Cupid.

Groundhog Day 2019
Today is Friday, February 2nd, 2019 “Groundhog Day 2019” This holiday is celebrated as a fun way to predict the coming winter weather. This day is celebrated each year on February 2nd. Groundhog Day was a traditional day used to forecast the remaining winter weather.
Happy Groundhog Day 2019
According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will persist for six more weeks. This fun tradition does not accurately predict the weather, but fun, all the same.
Our customers, all of them manufacturers, are on the leading edge of any change in our American economy. Most of our customers are preparing for growth rather than recession in 2019. Kinetic Die Casting Company is preparing and we are taking steps to handle the growth we expect to see in 2019. Our die casting competitors are also supporting their manufacturing customers.

Diecast Trim Dies
Kinetic Die Casting Company (kineticdc) makes aluminum parts and zinc parts using diecasting tooling aka die casting tooling or die casting molds. There are several possible items that fall under the heading as tooling. In the following weeks, I will be discussing the following terms used as die casting tooling:

This week I write about:
Die Casting Trim Dies
The die casting trim die saves time, labor and money making die casting parts. During the die casting manufacturing process, molten metal is forced into the die casting mold through the shot hole, this uses considerable temperature and pressure. The molten metal is forced into the die cavities. The gases escape ahead of the metal out gas vents. Where the metal enters the cavity is called the gate. The air and gas in the tool escapes out of the tool through over-flows and vents. There is also excess metal in holes and around the edges called flash. The flash, gates, vents and over-flows need to be removed from the casting. This can be labor intensive using files, drills, deburr tools and sanders. A trim die automates the trimming process.
