Aluminum Prices March 2022

Die Casting Alloy Materials Are Crazy. I am getting calls from the customers of my competitors asking that I quote a part price. I always refuse to quote because my competitor is facing the same material cost increases I am facing. Some die casting materials, like za27, are not available today. I will have to wait a few weeks for material. I’ve never seen this before.

In the past, prior to 2020, the die casting metal alloy prices were like gentle waves on the ocean, they go up, they come down. I have always ridden the waves in the past by not increasing or changing the part prices for material increases. But I can’t ride the increased material costs anymore.

Today, the cost of aluminum alloy for die casting increased another $0.05 a pound. Zinc alloys have risen similarly. That is an increase that I have never seen in my 30 years in business. My customers will also unfortunately have to pay a higher part price Or I cannot supply them the parts.

If you have a good supplier, pay the higher part cost. They cannot avoid the cost increases. Die Casting Aluminum Alloy Prices in March 2022 are Crazy.

Online Die Casting Job Application

We are currently in need of an experienced die casting supervisor that understands how to operate a die casting machine so they can train new employees. How to change cavity inserts in a die casting tool or mold base. How to setup or assist the setup of a mold/die in a die casting machine using a forklift. How to train employees on these jobs. We are paying a signup bonus. We are paying a referral bonus to anyone that send us the person we hire. The die casting supervisor will supervise workers and train aluminum die casting machine operators. Oversee die casting production employees. Manage setup person or preform setup duties or train setup person for die casting cavity insert changes and tooling changes and die casting machine setups. Oversee setup of trim presses. When we have equipment downtime, contact repair person or preform minor equipment repairs.

Kinetic Die Casting Company has been in business since 1994. We specialize in low quantity production. We have five cold chamber die casting machines that produce parts in aluminum, zinc and za27. Our die casting machines are Toshiba, HPM and Harvill that range from 250 tons to 600 tons. Our employees typically work four 10 hour days and get a three day weekend. We are currently running three shifts to keep up with our increased post Covid-19 production needs. Lately, we are offering 10 hours of overtime to our employees.

Bucy Die Casting Company Closing

As of December 15, 2020 Bucy Die Casting Company will close their doors one final time. Bucy started doing business in 1943, and Bucy was incorporated in 1957. Bucy was an aluminum die casting company and zinc die casting company located in Burbank, California. Bucy was a family owned and operated business founded in the 1940’s. They claimed that they could hold tight tolerances better than competition.

Bucy had a Website: (http://www.bucycast.com). The website stopped working in 2016. The website had this information: Custom manufacturer of aluminum and zinc die casting molds. Available in height up to 9 in. and dia. up to 18 in. with +/-0.002 in. tolerance. Additional services include painting, powder coating, plating and anodizing. Suitable for model airplane motor casings, water pumps, speaker frames and parts, pressure washers, brackets and hydraulic cylinders. Electronics, recreational vehicles, agricultural and hobby industries served. Bucy ended with less than 10 employees.

It saddens me that another California die casting company is closed. My company, Kinetic Die Cast, is still going strong and we are willing to help any manufacturing company that needs die casting parts.
