Art Mold Die Casting is Closed

Sadly, one of our competitors has closed their operations. Another California Die Casting Manufacturing Company is gone.

Art Mold Die Casting Company 11872 Sheldon Street Sun Valley, CA 91352 is closed. ArtMold started producing die castings in 1978. Nearly 40 years in business here in Southern California. Their commitment to excellence and concern for competitive pricing was an integral part of their growth. Sadly, their demise came at the hands of foreign competitors. They could no longer maintain their high standards of quality while paying increased costs for doing business in California. Art Mold still tried to compete with die casting prices from countries that do not have a minimum wage law, competitors that do not pay insurance costs, they do not pay holiday pay for employees or pay employees for sick days.

Now about my company, Kinetic Die Casting Company.
kineticdc logo
We are still going strong. My company does an excellent job taking care of my employees with fair wages, paid vacations, paid sick days, and holiday pay. In return, my customers get excellent service, the best product quality and the willingness of my employees to deliver products on time. A small price to pay for world class results. As a small American manufacturer, I keep my product prices as low as possible to compete globally. I work with customers by giving them discounts on prices whenever I can. We are local, customers can order and get products in one or two days. We are willing to produce low production quantities of parts. Our quality is the best quality you can find. We are available by email or phone at any time. We have no hidden environmental fees or setup fees. We expedite our products for free if our customers make a mistake logistically. I am helping the local economy by keeping manufacturing jobs here in California.

Yes, we are taking over some of the die casting work from ArtMold Die Casting Company (AMDC). We are 15 minutes away from AMDC. I have agreed with the owner of AMDC that I will honor the prices they have with their existing customers. He also agreed to give me any special tips necessary to make your parts.

    Problems for Container Shipping

Port of Long Beach CEO anticipates further pain for container shipping lines as global container shipping lines face one or two more years of pain as the industry consolidates amid overcapacity and weaker demand, according to the Port of Long Beach’s chief executive officer.
    Container Ship
Slowing demand in China and Europe combined with a glut of container ships has pushed down freight prices. Long Beach is being hurt by the fallout as cargo volumes slumped 22 percent in April after CMA CGM SA shifted some business to neighboring Los Angeles, the busiest U.S. port, following its acquisition of Singapore’s Neptune Orient Lines Ltd. Volumes at the port, which derives more than 90 percent of its business from trade with Asia, should normalize in the third quarter. As interest rates and fuel prices rise, mergers and alliances designed to cut costs by sharing ships should proliferate. The port hopes to serve as a “facilitator of change” to bring together clients in alliances and mergers that will allow them to share not only ships but also information about container freight demand and availability.

As an American Manufacturing Company, this is great news. Kinetic Die Casting Company will increase our production capacity while our overseas competitors, these offshore die casting manufacturers, decrease ability to get products to America cheaply.

Kinetic Die Casting Company makes Aluminum Casting Parts. As a die casting company, we make these parts every day and ship thousands of these aluminum die castings every week.

    What is Sand Casting

What is Sand Casting? Sand casting is a process that uses sand as the form or mold that shapes the metal castings. In sand casting, the sand is moistened and the pattern is pressed into the sand. The preparation and bonding process of the sand is the most critical step in the process. This technique is usually used for low volume production.

The sand casting pattern is made of wood or metal, such as aluminum. The patterns are generally not destroyed but are made permanent to be reused up to a few thousand times. Sand casting is used when lower quantities are needed and lower quality is acceptable. Lighting companies use sand casting to make aluminum lighting parts if the project only needs a few hundred parts.

    2016 Die Casting Design Competition

Innovative Die Castings Wanted – Submit Your Entry to the International Die Casting Design Competition
    NADCA

In a competitive global market, customers take notice of the best. North American Die Casters Association (NADCA) knows that competition improves the competitor. With its annual Die Casting Competition, it recognizes and rewards the outstanding casting designs of the year.

Entering and winning is one of the best ways to gain visibility with leading decision-makers. The competition is open to aluminum, magnesium, zinc die castings and other alloy families. Any number of castings may be entered. However, a separate entry form is required for each casting or assembly of castings. In addition, the metal surface cannot be improved or concealed by tumbling, shot blasting, coating or other surface treatments.

Judging is conducted by an independent panel of experts from the die casting industry, with no ties to eligible companies. The four equally weighed criteria are ingenuity of casting/product design; overall quality; cost savings; and market-expanding potential. Winning castings will be displayed during the 2016 Die Casting Congress & Tabletop in Columbus, OH and winners will be honored during the Die Casting Awards Luncheon. NADCA’s Die Casting Engineer Magazine, NADCA’s Website and the NADCA Design Website will also feature the winning castings.

This competition helps promote increased use of die castings by recognizing and publicizing outstanding designs. For more information on the 2016 International Die Casting Design Competition please visit, www.diecasting.org/castings/competition or contact Beau Glim at glim@diecasting.org. The deadline to submit your casting is July 1, 2016. Don’t hesitate (Article from NADCA, visit their website for more details)
