Prototyping Sandcasting Parts

Many of our die casting part customers make Prototype Sandcasting Parts before they buy Die Casting Parts. We can help you develop your metal product with prototype parts. Kinetic Die Casting Company can make prototype metal parts for our customers, to use for evaluation, prior to making die casting tooling.

We have produced many types of “pre-production” or prototype parts for our customers. We have produced the following types of parts:
Stereolithography (SLA) 3D Printing
Stereolithography Casting (SLC) Casting from 3D Printing
Sand Casting Parts
CNC Prototype machined parts
Custom Metal Parts …… READ MORE

We can take your 3D model and create a Stereo Lithography ( SLA ). SLA is a process that converts a three dimensional (3D) file into a plastic part in a matter of a few hours or days. Kinetic Die Casting has provided many SLA parts to prove a design for our customers.

With the SLA we can then make a SLC or Sandcasting Parts. A SLC is when we coat the SLA with a material to create a “one up” tool …. Metal Prototype Parts

A sand casting will use the SLA to “make an impression in the sand” over an over to make a few parts.

In some cases, we can modify an existing die casting part to use as your prototype. In other cases, we can machine your parts from raw aluminum using a CNC machine.

Porosity in Diecastings

What is Die Casting Porosity? (Die Casting Porosity) In order for you to know what die casting porosity is, you need to know the die casting basics. The most common form of Die Casting Porosity is a kind of factory defect in which die cast parts contain small pockets of void space and air within the metal, causing it to become porous.

Porosity in Die Casting is the air trapped by the metal inside the die casting parts. To know more, a basic knowledge of the die casting process is necessary. Die casting is a process wherein a particular amount of molten metal is put inside a shot cylinder, then it is applied (plunged) with great force with a piston so as to force the metal into a die cast mold or die cast die. During this “plunging process”, air inside the cylinder is forced along with the metal into the die casting mold. It is a very fluid turbulent process. The air forced into the mold with the metal and the metal already inside the mold is forced out of the mold through a series of gates, vents and overflows.

After this, the metal is left to cool down and harden or freeze inside the mold. The metal is then removed as a die cast part. The same process is repeated over again.

Die casting companies use metals which are non-ferrous, or do not contain Iron, as this is the highest factor for oxidation and rusting. Several examples of non-ferrous metals include zinc, aluminum, lead, Magnesium Die Casting, tin and copper. Kinetic Die Casting only uses aluminum die casting and zinc die casting.

In the worst case, die casting parts porosity, weakens die casting parts, if the voids or pockets are very large. Porosity typically matters most in pressure tight die casting parts. When the air escapes through a die casting part, it is typically caused by porosity.

The many forms of Die Casting Porosity are caused by many variables:

  • Metal and Mold Temperatures
  • Material Cleanliness
  • Die Cast Mold Design
  • Die Cast Part Design
  • Die Casting Machine Pressures
  • Die Casting Machine Shot Speed
  • Die Casting Spray or Mold Release
  • Other forms of porosity can be from “shrinkage” or wall thickness.

Employees of Kinetic Die Casting are POROSITY EXPERTS in die casting parts that need to be free of porosity.

April 15 Tax Day 2019

The term “Tax Day” refers to April 15th in the United States and is understood as the tax deadline to file individual or personal tax forms and make the required payments to the their State and the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).

American Flag
April 15, 2019 – American Tax Day

History (from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Day_(United_States))
Federal income tax was introduced with the Revenue Act of 1861 to help fund the Civil War, and subsequently repealed, re-adopted, and held unconstitutional. The early taxes were based on assessments, not voluntary tax returns. Tax payment dates varied by act.

The case of Pollock v. Farmers’ Loan & Trust Co. challenged the constitutionality of the Wilson–Gorman Tariff Act of 1894 which taxed incomes over $4,000 at the rate of two percent. The case was decided by the United States Supreme Court in 1895. The Supreme Court decided that the Act’s unapportioned income taxes on interest, dividends, and rents were effectively direct taxes. The Act was therefore unconstitutional because it violated the Constitution’s rule that direct taxes be apportioned among the states. In 1913, eighteen years later, the Sixteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified. This Amendment gave the United States Congress the legal authority to tax all incomes without regard to the apportionment requirement.

The filing deadline for individuals was March 1 in 1913 (the first year of a federal income tax), and was changed to March 15 in 1918 and again to April 15 in 1955. Today, the filing deadline for U.S. federal income tax returns for individuals remains April 15 or, in the event that the 15th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the first succeeding day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or holiday.

This year the tax filing deadline is April 15, 2019

Diecast Aluminum Housings

Aluminum Housing Castings or Aluminum Diecast Boxes are electrically conductive and can be easily be electrically grounded. Aluminum box enclosures can be manufactured with the mounting holes necessary for set up circuit boards and covers or lids to the enclosures to seal from humidity and damage to the components constructed. Die Casting Aluminum enclosures work well with die casting aluminum heatsink parts to remove and dispel heat from components.
Aluminum Diecast Boxes

Die Casting Aluminum Housings or Aluminum Diecast Boxes do not need welded seams, so they usually look better than other manufactured boxes. Depending on the size and weight of the parts, Aluminum cast boxes, aluminum diecast enclosures and aluminum housing castings made as die casting parts can be made at the rate of a few hundred to a few thousand parts each day. Aluminum Box Enclosures or Aluminum Box Housings Parts are easily powder coated.
