DETROIT (AP) — Firefighters are still at the scene of what’s left of the Diversified Chemical Technologies plant on Detroit’s west side. On Monday, fire ripped through the building, triggering explosions that sent flames and smoke shooting through the air. …

Aerospace Diecastings
Kinetic Die Casting Company makes several types of Die Casting Aerospace Parts. These aerospace die casting parts are used for many types of purposes. Some of these parts are used on many types of aircraft, such as: airplanes, jet planes or helicopters.
Aircraft manufacturers typically specify aluminum die casting to make the aerospace parts because aluminum is lightweight and inexpensive as well as very strong.
- Lightweight – Aluminum weighs only .098 pounds each cubic inch of material as compared to zinc which weighs about 2.44 pounds each cubic Inch.
- Inexpensive – Aluminum is the third most common element on earth, so it is more available than other materials. Aluminum is used in over 80% of all die castings produced in the world.
- Strong – Aluminum parts can be geometrically designed to be stronger than steel. Look up “aluminum is stronger than steel” on Google to see the results.
These aerospace parts range from: airplane engine piston heads, airplane distributor cap housings, fuel system parts, detention ring parts, cargo loading housings, lighting fixture parts, electronic enclosures, electronic housings, motor housings and various other aluminum die casting parts.
The companies that trust us to purchase their die casting parts from Kinetic Die Casting Company are many.
- Here are a few of the aircraft and aerospace companies that we can name:
- Robinson Helicopter
- Ancra International
- Whittaker Controls
- AAR Cargo Systems
- Boeing Aerospace
- Barry Controls
- Meggitt Aerospace
- Parker Hannifin Aerospace Corporation (Parker FSD)
- Circle Seal Aerospace
- Kelly Aerospace
- Curtiss Wright
- Honeywell
- United Technologies Aerospace
Low Quantities.
Many of these companies order lower quantities. One of the companies listed here will order less than 50 parts at a time. Many of these companies order 250 parts or less. Kinetic Die casting will accept any purchase order quantity.

2019 Die Casting Competition
Hello Die Casters,
The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) holds a contest every year for the best castings. We are a month out from castings being due for the 2019 International Die Casting Competition. Based on the discussion at the technical congress earlier this year, some winners may not be up to par with what Chapter 30 die casters are doing. It would be great to get castings from Chapter 30 die casters, so the judges can see the difference.
Spread the word about the die casting competition, so those die casters can enter their castings.
Submit by June 17, 2017
The following link contains the details and at the bottom of the page is the electronic entry form.
Castings need to be received by June 17.

YOUR OFFICIAL ENTRY TO THE 2019 DIE CASTING COMPETITION BEGINS HERE.
To be a winner in today’s economy, you must meet — and even exceed — expectations. In a competitive global market, customers take notice of the best. The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) knows that competition improves the competitor. With its annual Die Casting Competition, it recognizes, rewards and publicizes the outstanding casting designs of the year. Each entry is judged on its design, quality, cost savings, ingenuity, innovation and industry-changing potential.
Winners will be featured in national industry magazines including Die Casting Engineer and will also be displayed at the 2019 Die Casting Congress & Tabletop in Cleveland, OH in October. Entering and winning is one of the best ways to gain visibility with leading decision-makers. How can you afford not to compete?
OFFICIAL ENTRY RULES
Any number of castings may be entered. Send a separate entry form for each casting or assembly of castings. As-cast part samples are REQUIRED with each entry form. The metal surface cannot be improved or concealed by tumbling, shot blasting, coating or other surface treatments. NADCA encourages sending secondary processed samples, but only in addition to the as-cast parts.
All castings submitted for the competition MUST have approval in writing from the customer stating their permission to enter their die cast part in the competition. Entrants may request that certain information, such as customer names, be withheld from public use in exhibitions, magazine articles and other publications.
Judging is conducted by an independent panel of experts from the die casting industry, with no ties to eligible companies. The four equally weighed criteria are ingenuity of casting/product design, overall quality, cost savings and market-expanding potential.
The competition is open to die castings in these categories:
Aluminum
• Aluminum under 1 pound
• Aluminum 1-to-10 pounds
• Aluminum over 10 pounds
• Aluminum structural/high integrity (squeeze, semi-solid, high vacuum)
• Aluminum any size with decorative finish
Magnesium
• Magnesium under .5 pound
• Magnesium over .5 pounds
Zinc
• Zinc under 6 oz./non-electroplated
• Zinc over 6oz./non-electroplated
• Zinc any size with decorative finish
Other Alloy Families
• Any size, base alloy excludes Al, Mg, Zn
To enter – complete the online form below. Please send all sample castings to:

All entries must be received by June 17, 2019.
Die Casting Process
Kinetic Die Casting Company uses the die casting process to make aluminum die castings and zinc die casting parts. The die casting process, simplified, is described as follows:
- Our customer provides us tooling (https://www.kineticdiecasting.com/tooling.html), a die, a mold or inserts that we use to make their parts. We can also produce the tooling for our customers.
- We put together the tooling and mount the tooling in our die casting machine. This takes a few hours.
- We fill a furnace with the proper die casting alloy metal (https://www.kineticdiecasting.com/Alloy_Data.pdf) to make the parts for our customer. The metal takes 4 hours to melt to the casting temperature.
- While the furnace is heating up we heat up the tooling to make the castings.
- When the tooling is hot and the furnace has melted the aluminum, we begin the die casting process.
- We spray the tooling with a release agent so the parts do not stick in the tooling.
- We close the tooling inside our die casting machine.
- The metal is ladled into a shot sleeve, a piston drives the metal into the tooling using great force.
- Our die casting machine opens, the ejector pins push the part out of the tooling
- We begin the process again by spraying the tooling.
- We repeat this process 200 times to 500 times in a 10 hour shift.
- When completed making raw castings, we trim the excess material called “flash”. We use a trim die in a trim press or we sand parts with a belt sander and file them by hand. Sometimes this takes longer than the casting process.
- At this point, some parts are put in boxes and shipped the same day. Other parts are machined. Some parts get painted or chemical coated. All parts are inspected prior to shipping to our customers.
This is a very simplified description of the die casting manufacturing process.

Mothers Day and Candy
Sunday, May 12th is Mothers Day 2019.
Why do we celebrate Mothers Day? For “the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world” – Anna Jarvis. The US holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church has an International Mother’s Day Shrine now to remember. Her campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. The mother, Ann Jarvis, had been a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War. Ann created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues. Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honor all mothers.
