Die Casting Tooling in 2022

Die Casting Tooling. Die casting is an industrial process used by manufacturers which involves forcing melted metal into Die Casting Tooling or also known as molds under extremely high pressure. This process is commonly used in cases where a manufacturer would need a large quantity of small-sized or medium-sized parts. This process can make use of ferrous metals but it usually uses nonferrous materials such as copper, zinc, aluminum, and magnesium among other metals. Die casting is a great process to use where the manufacturer needs to maintain a smooth surface, good quality of parts, and a fairly uniform outcome for each part. There is little or sometimes no need for post-production machining to uniform the parts.
There are two ways to achieve this process; the first is to use the hot chambered machine and the second is to use the cold chambered machine. The former is used for metals with lower melting points and can fill in the cavities of Die Casting Tooling faster compared to the latter. However, there are metals that hot chambered machines cannot handle so cold chambered machines are used in their place.
When it comes to Die Casting Tooling, there are different sizes and shapes to choose from. There are also different styles to use and the cost will vary based on the simplicity or complexity of the mold. They are built usually from hardened steel which takes a lot of time to finish. This is the main part of the whole die casting process and is the most important part.

Spending Less on Aircraft Parts with New Aerospace Die Castings in 2022

Spending Less on Aircraft Parts with New Aerospace Die Castings. In the aircraft industry, the cast aluminum metal has established a wide application in the production of both major and minor component parts. It has long been utilized in this field since the aviation entered the commercial scene. Even before the commercial aircrafts have given the chance to take off, the military has already used this metal along with its alloys for the manufacture of the parts of fighter planes. The good thing about the new aerospace die castings is that they are now geared to endure harsh weather conditions and increased damages.

Because of the recent rise in the cost of manufacturing materials, the owners of aircraft companies are now considering the potential of the aluminum casting technology. Cast aluminum is much more affordable than any other metals that are used in planes. Combined with other metals, it produces a piece that is extremely durable yet considerably flexible.

The use of aluminum die cast parts tends to allow the builders of aircrafts to cut on manufacturing expenses without even sacrificing the over-all quality of their trade. There is actually a certain standard that has been established for the use of aluminum in aircrafts so the parts are certified safe in the aerospace. Another good thing about an aluminum die cast part is that its weight appears to be favorable for the aircraft operations.

Die Cast Tooling Mold Bases in 2021

Kinetic Die Casting owns several Die Casting Tooling Mold Bases that we use to produce aluminum die casting parts. These die cast mold bases are convenient for use for customers who own die casting tooling inserts but not a die cast mold base to use in a die casting machine. Some of the moldbases we own are as small as 12″ by 12″ and are as large as 36″ by 36″. Kinetic Die Casting also owns DME unit dies and MUD bases. DME unit dies are available in many sizes. Kinetic Die Casting primarily uses two DME Unit Die sizes:

    • 10″ x 12″ DME Unit Die
    • 12″ x 15″ DME Unit Die

Kinetic Die Casting will mount “customer owned” die cast tooling inserts into our mold bases so we can produce aluminum die casting parts. We can mount inserts ranging in sizes from 3″ to 20″ and all sizes in between. If a customer contacts us and they own die casting tooling inserts only, we can make parts for them. We have also made die cast tooling inserts for customers that will fit our mold bases. The tooling inserts are many types, like:

    • Guitar Amplifier Housings
    • Chocolate Fountain Heaters
    • Golfing Products
    • Aluminum Boxes
    • Aluminum Heatsinks
    • Aluminum Hardware
    • Military Parts
    • Aluminum Auto Parts
    • Aluminum Aircraft Parts

Die Casting Tooling is the greatest cost barrier to producing aluminum die cast Custom Metal Parts. The die cast die mold base is a very large percentage of the die cast tool cost. Kinetic Die Casting uses our die casting mold bases to save money for our customers, so they can get the die casting parts they need.

Save Money when Creating Die Casting Molds in 2021

How To Save Money When Creating Die Casting Molds. Die casting molds, or simply die casting tooling dies, do not really come as easy as it sounds, and certainly these do not come cheap too. For starters, die casting molds must go through several blueprints in order for these to actually be employed in any type of production. Naturally, blueprints have to be converted to actual dies which could make actual pieces. Even with the best blueprints, only a “finished product” could show the positive and negative qualities of the pieces. In turn, these pieces will have to be scrutinized and tested for both quality and strength. Achieving one “flawless” die design can literally take months of work, and the longer the testing continues, the more expensive it becomes.

Why is this so? Well, most die casting tooling are made from steel alloys, and these do not come cheap at all. So for producers of die cast products, they turn to less expensive alternatives in order to create the prototype of the perfect die. Prototypes are usually made of less dense steel alloys. Although the pieces that are made from these prototypes are made from more solid materials, the prototype dies themselves are usually made of light weight materials. These are also subject to metal erosion when used and cannot be readily modified.

However, the prototypes can be made cheaply, and studied afterwards to note where the flaws in the pieces may emerge. The main purpose of using cheap materials for prototype is simply that: to save money during the designing stage. When the desired “model” is achieved, only then do producers of die cast products use steel alloys to create the dies. However, as part of quality control, the pieces that finally emerge from the steel alloy dies also have to go through rigid testing.
