Parting Line Flash on Die Casting Parts in 2023
Parting Line Flash on Die Casting Parts. What is Die Casting Parts Flash on the Parting Line?
Die Casting part tooling produces parts from two halves, (1.) the hot half and (2.) the ejector half.

Where these two halves meet is called the “parting line”. The parting line on the die casting part is where most of the hand labor is expended. On occasion, parts need to be filed or sanded on the parting line. Many times, a trim die will cut the excess flash from the parting line like a cookie cutter.
Kinetic Die Casting Company produces many types of die casting parts. Most of these parts are cleaned by use of a trim die. The trim die can save as much as 15% of the part cost and reduce the part production time by half.

Aluminum Heatsinks for Your Convenience in 2023
Aluminum Heat Sinks for Your Convenience. Aluminum heat sinks have the ability to absorb and disperse heat from another object through thermal contact since aluminum has good electrical and thermal properties. This amazing characteristic makes aluminum heat sinks ideal for cooling purposes. An aluminum heat sink is a piece of molded aluminum usually placed on top of a processor. In most cases, you would first have to remove the heat sink before you would be able to see the processor.
Wherever a need for effective heat dispersal exists, there will undoubtedly be aluminum heat sinks installed. Refrigeration is the foremost industry that employs the use of heat sinks. The aluminum heat sinks produced these days come in various shapes, forms and sizes. The standard heat sink though, contains long fins and thin protruding extensions for directing the heat coming from the processor to the cooler setting inside the heat sink. Majority of today’s heat sinks available in the market are furnished with fans that blow cool air towards the fins to disperse the heat more efficiently. These fans are usually situated on top or in the middle of the fins.
Die Cast Aluminum Heat Sinks are designed in such a way that less machining is necessary. The production rate averages from 250 to 2,500 heat sink parts a day. Another great think with aluminum heat sinks is that they are completely lighter than their stainless steel equivalents, having a specific gravity of 0.10 pounds per cubic inch. They are also easily grounded since aluminum is electrically conductive.
Aluminum heat sinks are used in cell phones, motor housings, circuit boards, refrigerators, airplane parts, satellite components, automotive, lighting parts, microwaves, etc.
Kinetic Die Casting manufactures products like heatsink die casting, aluminum housings, and lighting fixtures. If you would like more information, please visit our website:Kinetic Die Casting Company

Aluminum Housing for Portable Devices in 2023
Aluminum Housing for Portable Devices. Portable devices, unlike their bigger counterparts, trade strength for portability. This trade-off is necessary to make the devices portable. Thinner and less dense materials are used to reduce the overall weight of the device. This can be seen in many delicate portable devices which break easily when handled incorrectly. However, there is a method that can be used to protect these devices while still maintaining their portability. This is done through the use of aluminum housings.
An aluminum housing is an enclosure that is designed to protect a device from physical trauma. The housing does this in both its interior and exterior. For exterior protection, the aluminum housing uses its shell as a shock absorber to lessen the impact felt by the device. For interior protection, the device is held in place by screws to prevent the device from moving around while inside the housing. In terms of aesthetics, the aluminum housing has a very plain, straightforward look which may be accented with ridges depending on the manufacturer. They come in a multitude of rich colors which add elegance to the aluminum housing.
Aluminum housings can be purchased in several stores including those that sell devices themselves. These stores however only sell housings that fit the devices they sell. The housings being sold all have predetermined specifications so that they can fit devices from multiple manufacturers. If an individual finds that his device is not compatible with any housing, he may contact aluminum manufacturing plants to have them create a custom housing for his device.

Aluminum Die Casting Parts Draft Angle-Draft Angle in Die Castings in 2023
Aluminum Die Casting Parts Draft Angle – Draft Angle in Die Castings. When someone asks me “what is draft angle in a box?” or “why do I need a draft angle on my aluminum die casting box part?” The technical answer is, all aluminum die castings require a draft angle on the walls of die cast box parts perpendicular to the parting plane or parallel to the slide interfaces. Since I have selling die cast parts for over 20 years, I find simple answers and provide simple calculations for my customers. What does that mean to the typical engineer (any engineer other than tooling or mechanical) or professional buyer?
I try to give examples that most people can relate to, because most people do not have a need to concern themselves with how things are made, only what is made, and will it be what they need. I ask, “Have you ever noticed on a cupcake the bottom diameter is smaller that the top diameter?” or “Have you noticed that a cake pan has sides that slope in toward the middle of the pan?” That would be an extreme example of a draft angle. Aluminum die castings would stick inside the die casting tool, molds, or die casting die if there was not enough draft angle in the tool and part. The typical draft angle for an aluminum die casting part is two degrees per side. The calculation for that is simple if a person is familiar with die casting production part design, but is not familiar to most people.
Picture an enclosure (or Aluminum Box) sitting on a table with the open side up. The aluminum box is 2″ deep inside with the height and width 4″ each way on outside. The walls of the box are 0.10″ thick. Due to the wall thickness, a few things are evident to a part designer concerning this simple box:
- The overall height of the box is 2.10″ tall.
- The interior of the box at the top of the opening is 3.80″ x 3.80″.
A 2 degree draft angle will change the dimensions in the following on the interior and exterior and should be considered if something needs to fit inside the box or outside the box:
- The top inside dimension of the box will be 3.80″ and the bottom inside will be 3.664″
- The top outside dimension of the box will be 4.00″ and the bottom outside will be 3.864″
If the box was designed for the interior of 4″ x 4″ at the bottom: box:
- The top inside box dimension needs to be 4.136″
- The outside top box dimension will be 4.336″.
