Mothers Day 2016 and Candy
In six days – Sunday, May 8th is Mothers Day 2016.
Why do we celebrate Mothers Day? For “the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world” – Anna Jarvis. The US holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church has an International Mother’s Day Shrine now to remember. Her campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. The mother, Ann Jarvis, had been a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War. Ann created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues. Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honor all mothers.
Traditional gifts to Mothers include: flowers, candy, a dinner at a nice restaurant or a spa treatment. Whatever you decide to do for your mother, remember to do something.

Thank You for the increased manufacturing business.
In 1288, a law was passed that allowed a woman to propose marriage to the man of her dreams on February 29th, Leap Year Day. The law stated that any man who declined the proposal on leap year day would have to pay a fine. The fine to be paid, should the man decline, could range from a payment of a kiss or a payment for a silk dress or a pair of gloves.
LEAP YEAR is when we have 366 days on our calendar. The extra day is February 29th and is commonly referred to as “leap day”. We get a leap year about every four years. The first leap year was 46 BC. It was then that the Julian calendar of 365.25 days was adopted. The calendar required that an extra day be added every fourth year. On our calendar, February, is an uncommon month in 2016.

Presidents’ Day 2016 and Almond Roca
Presidents’ Day 2016 – The third Monday in February is Presidents’ Day. Washington’s Birthday was a United States federal holiday.
This holiday, celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, our first President of the United States. Now, this day is known as Presidents Day, and is often an occasion to remember all the U.S. presidents, not just George Washington’s actual birthday, February 22 or Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is February 12th. The term “Presidents’ Day” used to change the holiday into a day honoring multiple American presidents.
Recently, the February holiday is a day in which many retail stores, especially furniture stores and car dealerships, hold discount sales. Until the late 1980s, banks and corporate businesses closed on this day, similar to present corporate and bank practices on Memorial Day or Christmas Day. With the late 1980s advertising push to rename the holiday, more retail businesses are staying open during the holiday each year, and, as on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Veterans Day and Columbus Day. Many colleges and universities hold regular classes and operations on Presidents’ Day. Most U.S. Postal Service delivery services offer regular service on the day.
Happy Presidents’ Day – Kinetic Die Casting Company will be open on this day for regular hours to serve our customers. We are currently shipping our new production part purchase orders in 4 weeks. We are thankful to our customers for their production parts they purchase from us.

Myths of Groundhogs and Economics
Happy Groundhog Day.
This is a traditional holiday celebrated each year on February 2nd. Groundhog day was used to forecast the winter weather. According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will persist for six more weeks. This fun tradition does not accurately predict the weather, but fun, all the same.
Economic forecasting is also a highly-imperfect exercise. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (stock market) has dropped significantly the past few weeks. Based on other recent economic data, we do not believe either the global or U.S. economies will fall into recession. There are many recession indicators available. All these indicators have varying degrees of historical reliability. The bulk of these indicators indicate less than a 50% chance of a U.S. recession. Globally, in 2016, we will see continued growth in Europe and only a modest deceleration in China, while other indicators are at levels associated with a low probability of global recession.
Our customers, all of them manufacturers, are on the leading edge of any change in our economy. Most of our customers are preparing for growth rather than recession in 2016. Kinetic Die Casting Company is preparing and we are taking steps to handle the growth we expect to see in 2016.
