Die Casting Tooling: 4 Types of Dies 2020

Die Casting Insert Molds
Die Casting Tooling: 4 Types of Dies. Dies, or more appropriately termed as die cast tooling, are one of the most essential parts when it comes to die casting. Naturally, you cannot make a certain alloy component without creating the perfect mold – which is why dies are also often called die casting molds. The actual creation of dies begins with the blueprint of the piece or pieces that is to be developed. This is not as easy as it sounds. Very stringent measures are undertaken to make sure that the dies fit every configuration of the overall design. Often the blueprints, the die casting tooling and the corresponding pieces that come from the first two have to be worked over until the perfect pieces are achieved. Only then can mass production of the said pieces can continue.
As such there are 4 known existing types, and these are: single cavity die, multiple cavity die, unit die and the combo die or the combination die.
Single cavity die casting mold, as the name implies, refers to mold that is often used in the creation of a single component. Usually, the very large pieces of metal works are created from single cavity die to ensure that the pieces are “flawless.” On the other hand, multiple cavity die refers to molds that have smaller components but are identical in design. This type of die is more economical when it comes to mass production of smaller pieces.
Unit dies are best for the creation of different pieces that would be fitted to create one larger piece, or unit. This is best for the medium to small pieces as well. Lastly, there is the combo die. The combo die can be a mix of two of the aforementioned dies above or all three. This is great for assembly line production.

Are Aluminum Die Casting Parts stronger and cheaper than Steel in 2020?
Are aluminum die casting parts stronger and cheaper than steel?
How can an aluminum die cast part be stronger than a steel weldament? Kinetic Die Casting, Inc. makes an aluminum die casting Boomerang cam lever part for a lift manufacturer that once was a two pound steel welded unit. This unit consisted of two steel plates, 1/8″ thick, with holes drilled, tapped, and welded to steel spacers with a bushing at each end, then painted. Occasionally, these units would fail in the field. Manufacturing costs ran about $7.00 per part in production quantities of 1,000 each week. Another difficulty is that it took three to four weeks to make the first steel part and only a few 100 could be produced a week. This hindered increased sales.
Kinetic Die Casting now produces these parts in aluminum die casting that weigh only 3/4 pounds; the steel unit weighed over two pounds. The aluminum die casting parts are stronger (3x greater axial load) and more reliable. There is no need for paint on the aluminum die casting parts. The Kinetic Die Casting part price of each die casting unit is less than $3.00.
Kinetic Die Casting can help you develop an aluminum die casting that will reduce weight, increase strength, and cost you less money.
Advantages of the Aluminum Die Cast Part over the Steel Weldament:
- 3x greater axial load strength.
- Fewer part failures in the field and fewer returns to the OEM.
- Part weight is 2.5x less in aluminum saving money in shipping cost.
- Production quantities (1,000’s) within a few days instead of weeks as before.
- Production rate is faster as an aluminum die cast part.
- Raw part manufacturing cost is 2.3x less as an aluminum die cast part.
- Finishing cost is less as an aluminum die cast part.
- Better looking parts as a die cast part.

Pressure Die Casting Aluminum Military Parts 2020
Pressure Die Casting Aluminum Military Parts vs Sand Casting. The military is an important part of any nation. State of the art technology gives a country a heads up against other possibly invading or threatening army. And with the invention of weapons of mass destruction, powerful nations keep outdoing each other when it comes to military technology.
Mostly, military equipment and weapons are made of sturdy metal. Precision is important, that is why the technology of making military parts is also important.
For aluminum parts, cold chamber pressurized die casting is used. In Pressure Die Casting Aluminum Military Parts vs Sand Casting, surely die casting is the better option. Sand casting is one of the oldest ways of molding heated metal. While this is still a reliable method, its products are not as good as die casting. First, the surface is not as polished. The sizes and parts are also not as accurate as planned. The sand makes the military parts rough in surface. It will need a lot of other processes to make it polished.
With die casting, aluminum parts are sure to be precise in size and parts. Complicated designs are complete, with every crevice and tiny part intact. Sizes will be 99% accurate. This is very important for military parts.

Brass Die Casting Lighting Fixtures are a Good Choice 2020
Why Brass Die Casting Lighting Fixtures are a Good Choice. There are two very common techniques used in making lighting fixtures out of brass – sheet lighting fixtures and brass die casting lighting fixtures. In the case of sheet brass fixtures, they are created by taking sheets of solid brass then bending the brass sheets into the desired shapes. This can be accomplished by making use of a high-pressure machine press. The machine press will stamp the brass sheets into their molded shapes. In comparison to die cast brass, sheet brass is much thinner. It is however more economical.
Brass die casting lighting fixtures on the other hand, make use of molds. Liquid brass will be poured into these molds to form the lighting fixtures. Most manufacturers and suppliers prefer die cast molds because of their quality and durability. For parts and fixtures that require consistent fits, efficient finishes and tight tolerances, brass die casting is well preferred. A method called sand casting is often used as an alternative to die casting. In this method a temporary mold made from packed sand is used. Brass is poured into the sand mold and when the brass hardens, the sand mold is broken away. This however does not come close to the efficiency and preciseness of die cast molds.
Brass die casting lighting fixtures speak of nothing but quality, durability and longevity. Even under rugged, humid or corrosive outdoor environments, brass lighting fixtures will last a lifetime. Furthermore, when it comes to aesthetic beauty, nothing can compare to the classic and stylish appearance of brass.
