Manufacturing Day at LA Mission College October 27th – As you may know, the Congressman is committed to supporting the growth of small and mid-sized businesses in the 29th Congressional District of California. As a part of this effort, he would like to extend an invitation for you to attend, and participate, in his annual Manufacturing Day Event this year. This will also be an opportunity for him to share the work he has been doing in Washington and to hear your feedback. Custom Table Diecast Part
Recently, Tom stopped by my office. He is wanting a new aluminum product design. He wants a die casting product for a custom table. He has been CNC machining parts from aluminum. He wants to mass produce hundreds or thousands of aluminum parts. He believes die casting is his best option. We talked together about his options of continuing to CNC machine the parts, aluminum sand casting, and aluminum die casting parts. We talked about matching die casting draft angles. We talked about reducing part weight while increasing part strength. We talked about various die casting alloy materials. We talked about other potential die casting issues relating to production, such as ejector pin locations and porosity in thick sections. I believe Tom will be a very informed and happy customer.

For the third consecutive year, Los Angeles Valley College in conjunction with Goodwill Industries of Southern CA and the Office of Congressman Tony Cardenas, will host Manufacturing Day on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. This year’s theme will be “Pathways to Apprenticeship.” Over 25 manufacturing companies will attend with representatives showcasing their products.
In addition to local high schools and community college student, the event will be open the public.

New Chocolate Fountain
A few years ago I received a phone call from Scott. He had developed a Chocolate Fountain that is the best on the market. Being a diecaster, I did not know what a chocolate fountain is and what a hit it would be. I worked with Scott to develop this fountain. It turned out to be great. It not only melt chocolate, but carmel and cheese also. My wife forced me into buying one for her when they were on the market. Soon after introduction, a cheap inexpensive model was showing up everywhere. Scott literally lost several thousand dollars because his was a better and more expensive model. Another American company closed due to cheaply priced and poor quality competitors.
