How to get a Die Casting Tooling Price

Die cast tooling is complex to price. KDC tries to match the Die Casting tool to the needs of our customers. Many times, an inexpensive insert is all that is necessary or sometimes a Class A Die Casting Mold is necessary. Our customer only needs to send us a final part design. This part design needs to indicate the most critical areas for the design. We will also need to know how many parts our customer suspects will be required from the die casting tooling. If the quantities are very great, the tool will not last and you will need to pay again for the die casting tools.

Die cast tooling comes in various forms:
1. Die Cast Tooling Inserts
2. Prototype Die Cast Tooling Inserts
3. Unit Die Tooling
4. Complete Class “A” Die Cast Die or Mold Tooling
5. Die Cast Family Mold Tooling
6. Trim Dies for Die Cast Parts

We have produced tooling for many products for our customers. To see some of those tools and see pictures of the parts, …………...READ MORE

Tooling Holders: Mold Bases for Die Casting Inserts:

Working Diecasting Molds

The major die casting procedures with die casting molds at work. Die casting is a process in which many industrial products and accessories are produced. And in producing these industrial products and accessories by way of die cast molds, four major steps are considered crucial and important.

The first step is the preparation of the molds that will be used in the process. The molds in question will be sprayed with lubricant and will be closed. The spraying of the lubricant is necessary so as to effectively control the temperature of the die and also to ensure that the finished product will be removed with ease.

When the diecasting molds have been sprayed, the molten metal will then be introduced to the die and this will be subjected under very high pressure. This kind of pressure will be maintained up until the time that the metal has formed. When the metal has been formed within the mold, the die will then be opened and the shot will be ejected by the ejector pins. From here the scrap that includes the runners, flash and the gate will be taken out from the casting which in turn is done with the use of the special trim die in power press.

There is a traditional way of taking the product out of the casting. This is done by hand or can be done by sawing. This will give some rough edges which can be remedied by grinding so as to smooth out the scrap marks. Another way is to tumble the shots and this can be done if the gates present are thin.

Tooling to Die Cast Magnesium

Tooling to Die Cast Magnesium. Die casting magnesium is a difficult but rewarding process for a manufacturing company. Its advantages greatly outweigh its disadvantages, so more manufacturing companies are turning to die casting for their processes to go smoother and more efficiently. Now, even more companies are asking how to die cast magnesium.

There four major steps in die casting magnesium. First, the mold to be used for the die casting process is sprayed with lubricant to control its temperature, and then sealed. Second, molten magnesium is shot into the die cast mold under high pressure, and this pressure is maintained until the cast has become solid. Third, the die is opened and the shot is removed from the mold by ejector pins. Lastly, the scrap is separated from the castings.

Die casting magnesium needs special equipment, of course. For magnesium, cold-chamber machines are used. The magnesium is melted in a separate chamber before being fed into the cast. This takes a longer time than using its counterpart, the hot-chamber machine, where pools of molten metal are utilized. However, since magnesium has a very high melting point, it would be much more difficult to use this machine.

When manufacturing companies ask how to die cast magnesium, they do so because they know the benefits of die casting for their companies. It is very complicated, but every company will benefit from having magnesium die casts as part of their processes.

Kinetic Die Casting manufactures aluminum die castings creating aluminum die casting boxes, aluminum handle hardware, and aerospace die casting. If you would like to get a quote, please visit our website: Kinetic Die Casting Company

Die Casting Tooling: an Industrial Process

Die Casting Tooling an industrial process. Die casting is an industrial process used by manufacturers which involves forcing melted metal into Die Casting Tooling or also known as molds under extremely high pressure. This process is commonly used in cases where a manufacturer would need a large quantity of small sized or medium sized parts. This process can make use of ferrous metals but it usually uses non ferrous materials such as copper, zinc, aluminum and magnesium among other metals. Die casting is a great process to use where the manufacturer needs to maintain smooth surface, good quality of parts and a fairly uniform out come for each part. There is little or sometimes no need for post production machining to uniform the die cast parts.

There are two ways to achieve this process; first is to use hot chambered machine and the second is to use cold chambered machine. The former is used for metals with lower melting points and can fill in the cavities of Die Casting Tooling faster compared to the latter. However, there are metals which hot chambered machines cannot handle so cold chambered machines are used in their place.

When it comes to Die Casting Tooling, there are different sizes and shapes to choose from. There are also different styles to use and the cost will vary based on the simplicity or complexity of the mold. They are built usually from hardened steel which takes a lot of time to finish. This is the main part of the whole die casting process and is the most important part.
